AERIAL TOOLBOX: FUNCTIONAL & POETIC MOVEMENT INTEGRATION - Circus Events - CircusTalk
An aerial artist’s creative work synthesizes the spectacle of aerial skill with the subtleties of human expression. This requires a mobile physical body and the ability to translate ideas into emotive movement qualities. It requires us to deprioritize manipulation of apparatus and the “”performing”” of aerial tricks as the building blocks of choreography, and instead allow choreography to emerge from the truths and stories that already live in our body and soul.

This integrative immersion with Nicki Miller offers a balanced mix of the tools that support a physically sustainable and creatively rich aerial practice. Deepen your relationship to anatomy and physiology with an emphasis on Functional Range Conditioning. Translate that awareness to poetic movement on your apparatus (we will use sling/spanset but this work translates to any apparatus). Learn creative association strategies to unearth your artistic voice when developing aerial choreography.
