CIRCUS SMIRKUS ADVANCED CIRCUS: INDIVIDUAL ACTS - Circus Events - CircusTalk
Individual Acts is an audition-based program.

A video showcasing your camper’s skills and personality is the only audition requirement this year. All campers must submit an audition video for this program.

Who Should Apply:

Individual Acts is for twenty young adults, ages 13 to 18, with self-motivation and a strong desire to create and perform in the circus arts community. Campers will choose a discipline and train, create, and rehearse an act with a coach. Campers in this program also participate in general circus classes.

How The Session Is Structured:

The goal of this program is to help campers develop into well-rounded circus performers by working with guidance to develop their artistic voice and translate it into a unique specialized performance.

The goal of this program is to help campers develop into well-rounded circus performers by working with guidance to develop their artistic voice and translate it into a unique specialized performance.

With the assistance of the coaches and staff, campers will develop a 2-3 minute individual act, by themselves or with a partner, which can be used for auditions and/or performances outside of camp.

Mornings will be spent rotating through a variety of circus disciplines and in the afternoons and evenings campers will train with coaches to develop their act.

These acts will be performed for peers and video recorded during week two of the session, and the Individual Acts campers will perform their acts in a showcase for family and friends on the final day of camp.

Campers will also enjoy traditional camp activities such as dinner dress-up and capture the flag. Chosen campers will have the opportunity to work in small groups, as well as one-on-one, with coaches and an Artistic Director in their area of concentration.
