In Colour by Swing Circus - Circus Events - CircusTalk
Travel to the colourful world of the Harlem Renaissance with this groundbreaking new show from Swing Circus. World-class swing dance, breath-taking circus skills and all the joy and flair of 1920s America, combine to tell the tale of Swing and it’s roots in the African-American arts scene.
Swing Circus invite you to step, step, triple step your way through history and in to a world where swing dance meets circus.
Swing Circus is a young Bristol-based company founded by Loz James, with the aim to combine high level swing dancing and circus in order to explore questions of racial intergration in a modern context. Straight out of the rehearsal room, this is the premiere of their brand-new show: In Colour.
The company took inspiration from the history of the Lindy Hop, a dance which emerged out of the joyful and infectious outpouring of African-American arts in Harlem, its introduction to the UK and what we can learn from the Harlem Renaissance today. This show is all about celebrating diversity, by means of swing dance and circus.
This performance is part of our Circus250 ‘Made In Bristol and the South West’ series.
