AERIAL SLING
In this immersion, we will review proper sling technique and provide avenues for future development while incorporating fun and creativity throughout. You’ll take home a solid theoretical framework and drills to improve lines and pointed toes, as well as ways to practice core strength and build active flexibility on the apparatus. Through guided exploration, you’ll develop movement quality, learn new transitions between traditional skills, explore how to apply practical groundwork, and, in doing so, gain the tools to discover your artistic voice. We will also be working on some fun intermediate sequences to add to your sling repertoire. Come hang around with us!

PREREQS: Students should be able to invert in the air multiple times and know the apparatus well enough to feel comfortable with exploration and improvisation. Students should have the stamina to stay in the air for three minutes at a time. Knowledge of catcher’s wrap, seatbelt, and basic drops such as a 360 and knee drop is recommended. Not sure what those are? Please email [email protected] for more details.

LYRA CREATIVE EXPLORATION
In this creative aerial hoop immersion, you’ll work on how to create your own movement choreography by immersing yourself in hoop theory, movement quality, and artistic development. Gena will help you with ways to explore skills and variations as well as unique transitions that are authentic to you as an artist. Each day we will delve into how to do your own creative research and develop your own unique movement pathways. This immersion allows you to research and explore movement on the ground as well as in, on, and above the bar.

PREREQS: Clean, unassisted inversions, comfort with spinning, and an understanding of body awareness are required. Must have a basic comprehension of intermediate lyra skills that can be executed without jumping, and a regular lyra practice. 16+.

Join us for a deep dive into technique, sequences, and tricks. Students will work on long-term skills such as switches, one-arm inversions, dynamic swinging skills, and roll-ups, including learning how to train and progress towards them effectively and safely. We’ll also have fun with some Sebastian-original straps choreography and movement quality. Come in ready to train hard, take notes, and explore another side of aerial straps.

PREREQS: Invert consecutively unassisted, spin on one or two arms, and have regular practice with straps or similar aerial experience. No active shoulder injuries. 16+.
