Working with refugees and asylum seekers through circus w/ Pete Duncan

As part of the Transitions Project, a circus artist and teacher development programme, run by NoFit State Circus and funded by the Arts Council of Wales, this participative session will:

• Inform and explore the myths and realities about refugees and asylum seekers in Wales
• Look at challenges in engaging and working with this group in a circus context
• Look at practical steps to take to remove barriers
• Explore how circus practitioners and circus can impact on and make a difference to those seeking refuge and asylum

The session is suitable for any circus practitioner or teacher who is interested in building the skills and understanding they need to engage with the refugee and asylum seeking community. The session will be delivered by Pete Duncan, outreach worker for Circus Eruption and member of the board of CircusWorks, the UK Youth Circus Network.

This session is part of the Transitions Project, a circus artist and teacher development programme, run by NoFit State Circus and funded by the Arts Council of Wales.
