Self-confessed food geek Dr Joanna Buckley from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Sheffield explored the chemistry behind six common circus and fairground foods in a series of short videos. Foods featured include candy floss, popcorn, burgers, toffee apples, hot dogs and chestnuts/peanuts. Each film introduces the social history behind the foods, alongside some relatable and entertaining chemistry facts behind them.
