Workers at a popular circus have been left devastated after finding the body of their colleague as they arrived to rehearse at the main tent.
Performers had just entered the Big Top at Mablethorpe-based Russell’s International Circus when the tragic discovery was made yesterday, Wednesday, September 19, just before 7.30am.
Police quickly arrived at the site, currently pitched up in Humberston Road in Cleethorpes and shortly after revealed a man had died.
The man was found by weightlifters and is believed to have passed between 5.30am and 6am.
Details on his identity or how he died have yet to be disclosed but he did have a girlfriend who was a fellow performer in the show, reports GrimsbyLive.
The find saw performances for the day cancelled on compassionate grounds.
But while paying tribute to the life that was lost, circus owner, Rusty Russell, revealed the show will go on as planned today.
