Add This to Your Circus Library–A Nofit State Circus Coffee Table Book

This project is about that book; a coffee table book full of the wonder, passion and beauty of circus, suitable for all. A book that still covers all the shows but whose focus is the photography whilst still capturing the feel of those shows.

A new book titled In nofitstate—immortal to block is about to be released which covers a specific circus history—the history of 13 years of the company Nofit State Circus in photographs. Photographer Mark Robson has spent the time to distill years of circus history and over 230 photographs in to one hardcover book. He has decided to produce the book using the funding source Kickstarter. Mark describes how his interest in photographing contemporary circus developed. “For me Circus is daring, excitement, wonder, beauty, skill– but it is also family, support, grind, determination, passion, and practice. This book is only possible because of all of those things and a lot of amazing people.” The photographs date from 2004 to current day. In nofitstate—immortal to block covers the work from ImMortalto Block including all the shows as well as community, backstage and portraits. With its focus firmly on photography, this book gives you a real feel of the shows and the people involved.

Mark Robson has a long history with the company himself that dates back even further to 1995 when he first worked with them not as a photographer but to blow up 2 cars for their show Autogeddon. Since then he has had a large range of roles with the company including performing, production, pyrotechnics, producing, photography and teaching, and sitting on the board of trustees from 2002 to 2015. In addition to photography, he also currently works with Mary Bijou Cabaret & Social Club (production and performing), Upswing (production management), raises his two sons and still manages a full time job at Cardiff University.
