Adelaide Fringe 2018: Ethiopian circus Abyssinia Granted Visas to Perform at Adelaide Fringe After Cancelled Shows

PERFORMERS in an Ethiopian circus act forced to cancel shows at the Fringe due to visa issues have been granted entry to the country.

Circus Abyssinia: Ethiopian Dreams was due to perform at the Royal Croquet Club’s grand auditorium from Friday night.

However, six of the circus’s shows scheduled over the weekend were cancelled, after the immigration department last week asked all the performers to reapply for visas.

The show features Ethiopian brothers Bibi and Bichu Tesfamariam, who share their childhood dream of joining the circus, as well as “high-flying, contorting figures” and Ethiopian songs.

About 4pm yesterday the performers, who are spread across London and Ethiopia, found out 16 of 17 visa applications had been approved.
