Circademics Rule! A Goodbye & Thank You, and a Welcome

In 2019, it was our long-time contributor Alisan Funk who curated the series Adventures in Circus Research for CircusTalk, bringing us articles from circus academics around the world. Alisan was recently appointed Head of the Bachelor of Circus and Assistant Professor of Circus at DOCH-University of Dance and Circus in Stockholm, Sweden. We would like to congratulate her on this new post and thank her for her work with us over the years!

Understandably, Alisan’s new post doesn’t leave her much time for writing for CircusTalk, so we sadly say farewell for now and welcome our new academic content curator, Dr. Franziska Trapp, a researcher at the University of MĂŒnster. She founded the Zirkus|Wissenschaft research project which seeks to combine academic research with circus studies. On the forefront of circus studies in Europe, Franziska has organized international conferences and has worked for various circus productions such as the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain and Cirque Bouffonand completed the Certificate en dramaturgie circassienne (CNAC and ESAC). With all of this insight and expertise, we look forward to a year of academic articles curated by her! Stay tuned to discover her new series starting in April.
