Circus, magic and puppetry as Festival of Fools returns to Belfast
IRELAND’S largest free street performance festival returns to Belfast city centre on Saturday with circus, magic and puppetry entertainment.
With more than 70 free shows, the Festival of Fools will see artists from around the world, alongside the best local based talent, take to the streets to perform.
Founded in 2003, the festival is the brainchild of the late Belfast Community Circus School director Will Chamberlain, who believed passionately in the power of street theatre and laughter to bring people together regardless of background, religion or language.
He established Festival of Fools in the Cathedral Quarter in Belfast at a time when the area was a far cry from the bustling cultural centre it is today. … link to full length article at Irish News.
