Sziget Festival Kicks off Next Week With Concerts, a Circus, Environmental Speeches and More

Hungary’s most popular music event of the summer, Sziget Festival, kicks off next week in Budapest and tens of thousands of visitors will arrive to the Island of Freedom to listen to headliners such as Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters, Twenty-One Pilots, and Florence + the Machine.

The festival will feature headliners like Ed Sheeran, Macklemore, the National, the Franz Ferdinand, Richard Ashcroft, Florence + The Machine, Johnny Marr, Twenty One Pilots and the Foo Fighters, while the lineup in the A38 tent includes Frank Turner, Razorlight, CHVRCHES, Xavier Rudd, James Blake, Richie Hawtin and Broken Social Scene. Petofi Radio-Telekom VOLT will offer on its stage for the first time foreign acts next to Hungarians, such as Gili Yalo, Shake Shake Go, Stella Donnelly and Inspector Cluzo.

Since its introduction, the popularity of the Cirque du Island haven’t faded and many festival-goers are interested in new performances at the circus. This year, in addition to Hungarian artists, organizers invited special acts from Canada, Ethiopia, France, India, and performers from Finland, South Korea, Germany, and Argentina were also invited. The 900-seat circus tent will be open from August 8th until the end of the festival from 2 pm until the beginning of the last concert at 11 pm.
