Upcoming Festival Open Calls

At long, long last, the Spring Edition of our quarterly festival newsletter has finally reached the length it was before the pandemic. Festivals are happening all around the world this Spring. We highlight here a few summer and fall festivals that are still calling for applications! Don’t miss your chance. These deadlines are approaching fast— the latest is April 15— so hurry up!

International Market of Contemporary Circus (MICC)  in Montréal is scheduled for July 11-14, 2022. The MICC offers professional visibility opportunities to contemporary circus artists and companies seeking to tour full-length performances in this discipline. The MICC provides these opportunities as part of its efforts to develop, sustain, and invigorate artistic creation and touring for contemporary circuses in North America and around the world.

Artists and companies working in the field of contemporary circus may submit their productions, both in the development phase and ready-to-tour, for consideration. Applications will be reviewed by a specialized jury, and selected projects will be invited to pitch to an audience of venue and festival programmers. These pitch sessions will take place at the MICC Annual Market in July 2022 in Montréal.

This year FIRCO, the Ibero-American Circus Festival, celebrates its 5th Anniversary.  Since 2018, FIRCO has promoted contemporary circus and cultural exchange between 23 Ibero-American countries.  FIRCO is founded on the need to unify the different worlds of circus that exist in each Ibero-American country. The festival completes this mission throughout a weekend of intercultural exchange every year. They aim to situate circus in a position to receive creative acclaim, cement the circus arts as a critical part of Ibero-American culture, and foster young talents.

Right now, the festival has an open call for Ibero-American circus artists who want to participate in this year’s Ibero-American Circus Festival, happening from September 30 to October 2 at the Circo Price Theater in Madrid (Spain). If you would like to be considered, learn how and where you can apply here.
