YUCK Circus and Rest Share Top Fringe World Award

YUCK Circus and theatre work Rest have shared the top prize at the 2019 Fringe World Awards, which were presented tonight at a ceremony at The Edith Spiegeltent at Yagan Square.

The two shows were named joint winners of the Martin Sims Award, which is awarded to the best new WA act that is destined to succeed on the world’s stage. The winners each receive $10,000 and opportunities to tour to other Fringe festivals around the world.

Outgoing Fringe World chief Marcus Canning said the all-female YUCK Circus, the creation of Broome woman Georgia Deguara, and WA Youth Theatre Company’s Rest embodied “everything that is good about this powerhouse of a festival”…
