1st Edition Italian Circus Talent Festival for Youth to Open December 1st
From Thursday, December 1, 2022, to Sunday, December 4, the 1st edition of the Italian Circus Talent Festival will take place in Rome. The festival has been organised by New Cover Montico, with the contribution of the Italian Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the International Circus Festival of Italy.
This event, the only one of its kind in Italy, will be of a competitive nature: Italian artists “under 25” will highlight their talents before an international Technical Jury, of which talent scouts and personalities afferent to important circus productions will be a part.
The disciplines admitted to the competition are those particular to traditional and contemporary circus, and may include the participation of animals.
The Italian Circus Talent Festival aims to foster the visibility of young Italian artists in the broader international panorama of live shows and productions: a sort of “launching” or “training stage” for many young people who, working step by step, aspire to increase their wealth of experience, opportunities, and visibility. This new festival intends to pose as a pre-stage to access the competition at the next edition of the International Circus Festival of Italy, as well as other competitive festivals reserved for young people taking place throughout Europe.
The International Technical Jury is comprised of well-known experts from the circus world, including:
- ODETTE BOUGLIONE of the Bouglione Family, Cirque d’Hiver, France
- PETER FEKETE, General Director of the State Circus of Hungary and the Stable Circus of Budapest, Hungary
- ALAIN FRERE, Co-founder and artistic consultant of the International Circus Festival of Monte Carlo, Monaco
- KRISTIAN KRISTOF, Company Manager of Recirquel New Circus, Hungary
- ARIS MACAGGI of the Macaggi Family, Italy
- STEFANO ORFEI NONES of the Circus Moira Orfei, Italy
- VIVIAN PAUL-RONCALLI of the Circus Roncalli, Germany
- ADANS PERES of Starlight Productions & Show Business, Spain
- ALBERTO SFORZI of the Casartelli Family, Circus Medrano, Italy
- GEORG STRECKER, General Manager of Wintergarten Varieté Berlin, Germany
- ELVIO TOGNI, Representative of the Togni family, Italy
For the young Italian artists admitted to the competition, performing in front of the International Technical Jury can represent an extraordinary opportunity for their artistic and working future.
As well, the Jury of Critics will award the coveted Critics’ Prize. This secondary jury is made up of these circus journalists:
