Circus Training for Foster Kids Seen as Boost to Youths’ Self-Esteem

Whether working with at-risk children in South Africa, or youths in London through Ronald McDonald House and London Down Syndrome Association, Savhannah Crittenden has seen firsthand the power of circus training to improve lives.

In London now, she is offering an eight-week program for youths in care at Children’s Aid Society London and Middlesex, not only as a way to give back, but because she believes the physical training balanced with creative expression, can help youths.

“I feel circus can be used to teach kids about social justice, about helping other people. We want to offer them the opportunity to use circus,” to build their confidence and self-esteem, she said.

“We feel it allows them the opportunity to be in a creative space and to believe in themselves.”…
