Cirque Musica Combines Acrobatics with Live Music Played by an Orchestra, to Tell a Holiday Story about How Belief Can Change Perceptions

There’s no denying symphony orchestras are struggling, no more than the old-fashioned circus that included animal performers.

For proof, look no further than Orchestra London’s demise a few years ago and the closing of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey circus.

Enter Steve Cook, creator and producer of the hybrid, Cirque Musica, which is bringing its death-defying holiday show, Believe, to London’s Budweiser Gardens Thursday, featuring circus performers backed by the live music of London Symphonia, which emerged out of the ashes of Orchestra London earlier this year.

“There’s no question the symphony industry is struggling and this was an idea I had to get new people coming out to hear symphony and to entertain people,” said Cook in a recent interview.

The Texan launched his idea about four years ago and “it’s grown very quickly,” said Cook, who spent 25 years in marketing with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus. He also spent time with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Six Flags and Universal Orlando Resort before he founded TCG Entertainment.
