December Round Up

Here they are, from near and far, the festivals, tre bizarre! Each month we bring you the most pertinent information about small and large circus festivals around the world so you can meet, experience and get to know the global community. There are hundreds of festivals and conferences each year and we aim to inform you of the cutting edge and most spell-bounding events!

What: MalabHaria
Where: Haria, Spain
When: December 26-30

Every year, the little town of Haria becomes the epicenter of the European circus for this festival. To celebrate the festival’s 10th anniversary this year, there will be the best of the national and international circus ready to transform us all into children with  free daytime shows at the plaza. In addition, there are classes for young people and adults. Some of the incredible acts will include trapeze, juggling, tightrope, clowning, cyr wheel and magic!

On this year’s bill is David Sosman and Michael Ferreri’s juggling, Cirk About It’s acrobatics, Zenaida Alcalde on the trapeze, El Cuarteto Maravilla the clown musical and vertical rope from Rebe del Reves. You won’t want to miss the juggling skills of Ramiro Vergaz, Matias Marre on the cyr wheel, Victor Sanchez on tightrope, magic from Miguel Munoz and Marilen Ribot on swinging trapeze.

What: Festival Enschede
Where: Enschede, Netherlands
When: December 22-29

This popular international circus festival is 22 years old this year. Started by Bram van der Weide, each artist is competing for the Golden Artist award. Get ready for laughter and amazement watching acclaimed artists and upcoming talents from around the world. Acts will range from acrobatic pyramids to shows at death defying heights. Plus, it wouldn’t be circus without a fair share of clowning and jugglers. See artists from all over Europe, such as unique performances from Pipsa Ilpala and  Victor Huusko of Finland, Maike Probst from Germany, Diorios of Brazil and much more. It will be in a heated venue and accessible by public transportation. Come mingle with the global community at this longstanding event!

What: Salto Natale
Where: Switzerland
When: November 17-January 2

Entering it’s 15th year, the Salto Natale show will allow you to step into another world. With lots of fire acts to get rid of the brisk winter feelings, you will be left speechless as you watch the Russian swing, aerial-tango, straps or even a miniature-flight show. Anja Walder, the show’s marketing representative said, “Everything is magical. You will forget about the worries you have in your daily life ”This show will undoubtedly help you get in the Christmas spirit with it’s festive decor and cozy winter fire themed performances.

Every year the show is different so you can experience something new and exciting such as air ballet by Anastasia Macheeva, dangerously wild and romantic acts from Aerial Tango, and the Mountain Bamboo handstand performance on scaffolding.There is also  the sensual Trio Bellisimo for acrobatics, Troupe Pronin on Russian swing, the vocals of Patric Scott, the stunning juggling of Elena Drogaleva and Gentleman or the comedic basketball skills of the Drunken Devils. This year will feature a consortium of spectacular performers including comedians and live bands as well. This is more than a show, it’s many events that will enliven your senses, revive your love of circus and awaken your holiday cheer!
