The Easy Path-Martin Riedel Explores Grief with Circus

On April 13th 2020, award-winning circus artist Martin Riedel‘s father Andreas Riedel passed away. It was a complicated relationship, exacerbated by his father’s lifetime of alcoholism, which made navigating grief all the more difficult for Riedel. So he did what artists do, he created.
Martin Riedel While in isolation in Norway (a gorgeous backdrop) he created a piece of art in his discipline (Chinese pole) to help him explore his thoughts and feelings, weaving in the words of wisdom his father shared with him at the end of his life. Riedel says the resulting work, The Easy Path is his artistic approach to reflect on the many challenges in life,  “It was quite hard to deal with so many rocks in my path, but life goes on and we need to deal with these obstacles.
