The Show Must Go On! What a Visit to The Big Kid Circus Looks Like with Covid-19 Measures in Place

A 22-strong Circus group, including 20 artists from the Cirque de Cuba, have arrived in the North East for a series of socially distanced show dates in Whitburn before the short trip to Blaydon later in the month.

Performers from Big Kid Circus are happy to have their show back on the road again after spending the coronavirus lockdown stranded together in Morecambe, Lancashire where they were all set for the first performance of their tour in March.

After losing the best part of five months of the season without earning any income and with no ability to claim benefits, they are now campaigning for the government to extend their work visas so they are able to tour in the UK until Christmas.

There is now a reduced audience capacity inside the big top which usually seats around 1000 spectators, rows of seating have been removed which means the maximum number of people inside is now only 300 so Covid-19 social distancing rules are adhered to…
