Montreal Will Spend More Than $900,000 to Relaunch Festivals, Cultural Events

Many cultural events and signature festivals were postponed, converted into virtual events or cancelled because of the pandemic.
Montreal’s executive committee recommended Wednesday that city council support the provision of $937,750 in financing for 43 organizations involved in local festivals and cultural events, a sector that was hard hit by the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The funding will support various events including those featuring circus performances, digital arts, cinema, video and literature. Many of Montreal’s cultural events and signature festivals were postponed, converted into virtual events or cancelled because of the limitations imposed by health regulations sparked by the pandemic.
