NoFit State Announces Professional Development Programme and New Fund for Welsh Circus Artists

Wales-based NoFit State Circus is setting up a professional development programme to support the nation’s circus practitioners.

The contemporary circus company will run the Transitions programme over the next 12 months.

It is open to Welsh circus professionals, teachers and graduates, and will comprise a series of tailored programmes for people at different stages of their careers.

These include business masterclasses, teacher training and mentoring, as well as a creative project specifically for youth circus graduates.

The masterclass programme will see NoFit State partner with two UK circus schools – Circomedia in Bristol and the National Centre for Circus Arts in London – to deliver classes, which can be accessed free of charge by Welsh circus professionals.

The project has been funded by the Arts Council of Wales, whose chief executive, Nick Capaldi, said: “NoFit State have a well-established reputation for their exciting and innovative creative practices, so we welcome the investment that the company is making in helping to develop the skills of future circus practitioners.”
