Circus News

“Awareness is the greatest agent for change.”
– Eckhart Tolle

The functioning of society around the world has been challenged by the pandemic on many levels–with our current and future realities heavily impacted. This situation brings a change in circus as well. If there has ever been a time to unite forces in our industry, it is now. As a result, CircusTalk’s new initiative brings together professional players from the international circus ecosystem to start the conversation both about circus as an art form and circus under these rapidly changing circumstances.

Our colleagues at the exciting new site, The Circus Arts Hub, are also conducting a series of talks with leading circus creators and creative producers around the globe and we have teamed up to share each other’s panels here as well. They are taking this opportunity to facilitate ongoing conversations about art form and sector development, to take stock, and to dream and plan for the future.

The series of virtual panels and discussions about the future of circus called “Circus and Changing Realities 2020.” In this curated set of online panels (since March 2020), we have opened up the floor for circus discussions about the changing face of circus among a wide variety of professionals in the circus sector. We continue that exploration and delve into best practices, improvements, adaptations and collaborations for strengthening the circus arts networks that we have painstakingly built together.

Presenting Circus has never been easy. Will it be even harder or do we have a window of opportunity here?

Circus and Changing Realities 2020 is an ongoing series, please check back as we update the upcoming event list. Some events are live stream and some are recorded. For recorded sessions, you can submit your questions to the panelist in advance. After the panel discussion, it will become available in an individual post where we encourage you to comment and continue the conversation with the worldwide circus community.
