In this podcast series called Press Pass with the Editor, we will be your front row access to what’s happening in the performance world. This monthly circus news podcast is brought to you by Circus Voices podcast network via CircusTalk. In each episode we’ll be exploring changes in the circus sector, impactful news in the performing arts world, as well as information about upcoming shows and events from around the world for the coming month. We’ll take a look at all parts of the circus world, from circus job listings to circus education and business, plus more.
In the September episode of Press Pass, we review Chicago’s Physical Fest, and discuss the Delta variant’s effect on circus programming. Associate editor Lydia Nord‘s education highlight is an interview with the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) student–just about to graduate–Antonia Sassine about her future plans and some good advice for future graduates on how to get hired. Last but not least, Circus Boss founders Ileigh Reynolds and Brock Rylander share their financial and business planning advice and more for artists. Kim Campbell is the chief content officer of CircusTalk and the editor-in-chief of CircusTalk News. They have written about circus for Spectacle magazine, Circus Now, Circus Promoters and were a resident for Circus Stories, Le Cirque Vu Par with En Piste in 2015 at the Montreal Completement Cirque Festival. They are the former editor of American Circus Educators magazine, as well as a staff writer for the web publication Third Coast Review, where they write about circus, theatre, arts and culture. Kim is a member of the American Theater Critics Association.
In 2019 as the editor for CircusTalk News, Kim was on the jury at el Festival Iberoamericano de Circo (FIRCO) and presented the first CircusTalk Critic's Choice Award. In 2021, Kim was on the voting committee for the International Circus Awards.
