Solène Albores and Rodrigo Hernández perform as Dúo Cardio. Solène comes from just outside Paris, grew up in Mexico City and has a scenic arts degree from Paul Valéry University in Montpellier. Rodrigo was born in Mexico City and raised in Montevideo. After meeting while taking aerial silks classes in 2006, the husband-and-wife duo first performed a silks duet in 2007 at the Festival Internacional Rodará in Puebla City, Mexico. Though they started out doing Chinese pole and hand-to-hand together in 2010, perch balancing has always been their passion.
In 2013, they presented their first perch act at the opening gala of the Circuba International Circus Festival in Havana, and have since appeared all over the world in other festivals, circuses, varieté, corporate and private galas, as well as on TV and in street shows. Rodrigo is a founding member of the cultural centre Circodromo, in Buenos Aires, and also coordinates Dokucirco, the Mexican circus archive and resource centre.
Solène and Rodrigo – who are based in Toulouse – are now returning to Mexico and will appear in Cirko de Mente’s new creation until September 2018. They chat to Liz Arratoon.
