STREB EXTREME ACTION Shares Its Thrilling Feats Of Physicality, Grace, Strength, And Risk With Williamsburg In FAILING FORWARD, AGAIN

STREB EXTREME ACTION is pleased to bring shows back to their home space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the STREB Lab for Action Mechanics (SLAM). This fall’s performances, FAILING FORWARD, AGAIN, will deliver new action, new stunts, and new ideas, along with a few of STREB’s more familiar favorites. The season runs November 18, 2022 through December 18, 2022; Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 5pm and Sundays at 3pm.

Often called the Evel Knievel of dance, Co-Artistic Director and Choreographer Elizabeth Streb and STREB EXTREME ACTION have been thrilling and terrifying audiences for more than 40 years. This fall, Streb and newly appointed Co-Artistic Director Cassandre Joseph, along with their Action Heroes will again open the doors to their Brooklyn lab where they have been experimenting with a set of dangerous and daring equipment—including a 22 foot I-Beam, 2 160-pound concrete filled metal pipes, and spiked rebar, which hang, spin, swing and circle the space— to drive the action.

“Nothing short of marvelous…this concoction of potentially perilous, but frequently witty, physicality.” – Janine Parker, The Boston Globe

FAILING FORWARD, AGAIN investigates Elizabeth Streb’s philosophy that failure is an integral part of the creative process, making space for discovery and innovation and leading to unexpected, surprising and truly original moves. The show will feature gasp-inducing first looks at these experiments, the likes of which can only be experienced at STREB’s warehouse space, SLAM. This gem of Williamsburg is uniquely qualified to house these bold investigations. PLUS, the company will share a show-and-tell preview of STREB’s newest Action Machine – SURF, a Maverick Wave apparatus designed to evoke motions surfers confront in the ocean’s gargantuan, 70 to 100 feet high, maverick waves, with power and turbulence.

“‘Failing forward’ has become my mantra,” reveals Elizabeth Streb. “Because it’s the only path to ‘Action Truths’—the thorny, upsetting venture of ‘Failure’…and not knowing at all what the next unanswered question or query of, ‘What IS the nugget of Action?’”.

As always, the Action Heroes of STREB EXTREME ACTION will combine virtuosity and technical skill with openhearted popular appeal as they showcase the company’s incredible feats impactfully up-close and close-to-home. Bring your friends, the family, and experience the fun, grit, and explosive sights of action and innovation.

General admission tickets are available for $25. Premium Seating available for $50/ticket. Join us on December 3rd for a Post Show Cocktail Hour with Elizabeth Streb and the Action Heroes of the STREB EXTREME ACTION. Children ages 5 & up will be invited to participate in a PopAction Movement Workshop. Tickets to the December 3 event are $100 ($50 is tax deductible).
