Surge: Exploring Street Performance
11th – 13th July 2018, 10am – 5pm Performing Arts Studio, Gardyne Campus, Dundee Performance day - Sat 21st July Dundee City Centre Age: 16+ Reach new levels of physical performance using street arts in conjunction with other disciplines over a four-day professional development workshop with Surge director, Alan Richardson and Physical Theatre Practitioner, Melanie Jordan. Develop your idea for performance using physicality, circus skills, comedy and audience interaction alongside fellow artists with the support of one of the UK’s leading street performance directors. Alan will work with you to help you create individual theatrical performances from your existing skills. At the end of the workshop, develop your work by trying out your ideas in front of an audience. Participants will perform to a supportive public audience at Surge’s physical theatre scratch event, PITCH, as part of Dundee City Streets Festival the following Saturday. This professional development workshop is aimed at emerging artists who have previous physical performance experience, though not necessarily outdoors. Please note that this is not a skills based workshop but an opportunity for physical performers to apply their skills in an outdoor setting. We particularly welcome applications from people based in the Dundee area. Participants must be available for all 3 days of the workshop plus the performance day.
