Cirque Éloize Celebrates 30 Years with “Between Sky and Sea” – A Unique Tale of Acrobatics and Legends

For its 30th anniversary, Cirque Éloize proudly presents a signature show that encapsulates the very essence of the company’s origins, the Magdalen Islands. Titled “Between Sky and Sea,” this original work is a captivating fusion of stories, legends, and acrobatic feats, brought to life for the first time in Montreal.

Cirque Éloize, a renowned name in the world of circus arts, marks its 30th anniversary with a spectacular show titled “ENTRE CIEL et MER”  (“Between Sky and Sea”). This unique production takes its inspiration from the enchanting Magdalen Islands, the birthplace of the company.

Nestled in the heart of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, the Magdalen Islands are a treasure trove of captivating stories and vibrant characters. These tales, handed down through generations, have become a part of the island’s rich cultural tapestry. The horizon where the boundless sky meets the vast sea serves as a threshold between reality and imagination. Cirque Éloize, much like skilled tightrope walkers, navigates this boundary, seamlessly transitioning between two worlds.

“Between Sky and Sea” is an enchanting and immersive performance, weaving together storytelling, circus artistry, and music into a compelling acrobatic and musical tale.

Notably, the show is created by  Cédric Landry and the renowned Suroît Group. Together, they pay tribute to the company’s Acadian heritage, celebrating it with a perfect blend of storytelling, acrobatics, and music.

“ENTRE CIEL ET MER is a celebration of our Acadian pride and a profound exploration of the island stories that have transcended generations. These stories return with the echoes of ocean waves and the aroma of seaweed,” remarks Cédric Landry, the show’s storyteller.

The acclaimed newspaper La Tribune describes “Between Sky and Sea” as a “beautiful and refined journey into the landscapes of the Magdalen Islands.” The show promises an unforgettable experience that resonates with the essence of Cirque Éloize’s three decades of innovation and artistic excellence.

“Between Sky and Sea” makes its debut in Montreal from November 16 to 18 at Théâtre Maisonneuve, Place des Arts.
