Shenea Stiletto is a two-time World Acrobatic Champion, USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame Member, a World-Class Handbalancer and a seasoned professional in the circus industry. Continuing the series into its second season, Shenea will share her expertise as a career circus performer as well as select insights and secrets from her guests about the business. Think Like an Acrobat will cover an array of useful topics from how to navigate a contract, to understanding the role of a good agent, and how to maintain long-distance relationships while living the globetrotter life.
Singer, voice coach and somatic education teacher, Robert Poliquin focuses on vocal technique and its effect on better communication. For seventeen years, he coached singers, clowns, and acrobats for Cirque du Soleil for shows such as O, Alegria, Mystere, Quidam, Salto Banco, Totem, and Zed. For the past twenty-five years, he has been identifying the close links that bind body, mind, and voice in his work with a diversified clientele: singers, actors, instrumentalists, dancers, public speakers, etc.
In this episode, Robert and Shenea dive into the circus song, explaining what it takes to transition from traditional singing to cirque singing, what makes a singer stand out in an audition, and how singers can look out for themselves and their voices when signing contracts and living the demanding cirque singer lifestyle.
