Sarah Poole Appointed Director of Higher Education at the École de cirque de Québec

The École de cirque de Québec (ÉCQ), a member of the Association des écoles supérieures d’art du Québec (ADESAQ) and the Fédération Européenne des écoles de cirque professionnelles (FEDEC), is honoured to announce the arrival of Sarah Poole as Director of Higher Education, which includes DEC, DEE and the school’s Cirque études secondaires in the heart of the Limoilou Québec district.

It is within the framework of the reinforcement of its higher education activities in Circus Arts

that the Board of Directors of the École de cirque de Québec (ÉCQ) has appointed Sarah Poole as Director of Higher Education. She will coordinate the existing team of seven permanent staff and nearly 35 professors. Sarah taught aerial disciplines at the École nationale de cirque for 14 years and was involved in the development of the school’s circus program. Sarah has also worked on creations for Cirque du Soleil and Cirque Éloize, among others.

In addition to her activities at the circus school, Sarah is completing her research in circus pedagogy in order to obtain her Master’s degree at Concordia University and has a first certificate in Educational Leadership from McGill University. American-born, Sarah left New York in 2003 to settle in Quebec.

ÉCQ’s mission is to promote the circus and stimulate the emergence of a new generation of artists. Founded in 1995, the ÉCQ is a unique space located in an exceptional setting in the heart of the Limoilou district and offers a variety of activities, quality equipment and access to qualified trainers and teachers. It is a place of creative activities, professional training, creation and diffusion in circus arts in circus arts.
